Will Black Triangles Go Away?
Black triangles are the space between two teeth and the gum line that form a triangle, also known as open gingival embrasures. Black triangles not only create an unpleasant appearance to your smile but also leave your teeth susceptible to dental problems like gum disease or tooth decay. Also cause a food trap that can easily harvest food, staining, and plaque which in turn can lead to tooth decay and gum disease.
What causes black triangles in teeth?
There are a number of factors that can cause black triangles. Gum recession, bone loss, and dental hygiene can all play a role in the appearance of black triangles. Can black triangles go away on their own?
When black triangles form between teeth, they will not go away on their own but fortunately, there are a number of treatment options available to restore your smile!
One option is dental bonding! Dental bonding can be used to restore a number of dental maladies including black triangles. Bonding is the same tooth-colored material that is used for dental fillings and to fabricate composite veneers.
Veneers are another great option! Your dentist can place porcelain veneers which are much more durable than composite but also come with a much higher price tag. They can last up to 20 years and do not stain whereas composite veneers are susceptible to staining and chipping. Composite veneers will need to be repaired or replaced much more frequently than porcelain, making porcelain the better option in the long run for many patients.
Another option is to receive orthodontic treatment to help bring the teeth closer together to close the space. Braces and clear aligners take a while to achieve results but those results will be well worth the time and cost associated with orthodontic treatment.
Some patients with black triangles may be able to receive hyaluronic acid treatment to regenerate gum tissue by injecting hyaluronic acid directly into the affected gum tissue. This procedure has a quick recovery time and is less painful than other options.
