More Information About Colfax, NC

Colfax, North Carolina is located in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina. The area’s history dates back to befoe Europeans established colonies along the eastern coast of the United States. For thousands of years, native tribes called the Piedmont home because of its abundance and climate. Then in the 1700’s Europeans began moving in displacing the native tribes. The first Europeans to enter the region were various religious groups looking to carve out their own region of the American paradise. These groups included Quakers, Scotch-Irish Catholics, German Lutherans, and Moravians.

Colfax’s history dates back to that time. For a few hundred years, the township remained a small, unincorporated suburb of the surrounding cities. The community followed the lead of several other communities in the late 1990’s and early 2000’s by trying to incorporate. Its attempt in 2000 failed because of North Carolina laws mandating population size for incorporation. The city was eventually annexed by Greensboro and High Point over the next several years.

Today

Today the township of Colfax is very small. Most of the community has been annexed by the two major cities that lie on both sides of the town, Greensboro and High Point. The population of the community is around 5,000 people. It survives because of the success of the major cities located in the Piedmont Triad.
